A Child's Perspective: Polishing Off Juvenile Diabetes

Nathan Oswald's Story

My name is Nathan, but my friends call me Nate. I'm nine years old, and I have juvenile diabetes. I wear a pump so my body can get insulin, stuff that my body doesn't make. I really don't like it when I have to do insulin pump set changes. They're not very fun.

Right now, my favorite subject at school is social studies, and I love playing fun sports like football, baseball and basketball. I also like to ride my bike and motor scooter. Sometimes my scooter scares my mom! Oh, I love eating tacos and can't wait until I grow up because I want to be a professional football player. I love football!
